On the Editing Train…

On the Editing Train…

The time is near everyone where I will be finishing up the end of my Romantic Suspense Novel: Through the Fog. I’m so excited as this has been a long journey. But, that journey does not end with me. Hours, upon hours, have been spent…recreation has been set aside…people have been ignored.

Now comes the editing phase in which I am both excited and nervous about. It’s tricky when trying to find the right person to handle your work with care. Who loves to edit novels in my Genre? Who has a reputable fan-base? Who really cares about bettering my story and not just making some quick cash? Will they take me seriously and my work? These are just a few of many questions that I have been asking myself a lot lately. I want someone who genuinely loves Romantic Suspense novels (after all, you wouldn’t want someone who only likes to read or write about sports to put their paws on a romance novel) to be the person that helps clean up and tidies my story. Making any sense?

What about you? Have you been disappointed with someone who edited for you? Who have you found to be a trustworthy advocate for you and your books? Please share who you think deserves some praise. This blog was created not only to guide me in my journey, but also to inspire others with theirs. Thank you in advance for all of your suggestions, praise, and encouragement. ***LOVE YOU ALL!***

Juggling too many books at once?

Is there such a thing as too many books (at one time?)

Up until this year, I only read one book at a time (except for when in school, of course). It would take me 1-3 days for a great book to finish, depending on other life events/obligations. Reading only one book at a time allowed me to focus and dive deep into the story. This year I have discovered so many new authors, and I keep downloading books and starting them – but it is taking so much longer for me to finish a novel!

I have been too anxious to wait to finish one book before staring another, so I have anywhere between 3-10 books I am reading at any given time. And I just don’t think this is working for me. Not only does it take me FOREVER to finish reading one book, but I don’t find…

Literary Agent or do it all yourself?

Literary Agent or do it all yourself?

Okay, so I’ve asked a few of you before on your thoughts about Literary Agents. Once again, I find myself tirelessly scoping through the internet on what would be the best route: Hiring a Literary Agent or doing all of the work myself?

I’m not opposed to working hard. In fact, I know it will bring a greater self-satisfaction to me in the end. My concern? Doing everything by the book and doing everything possible to get my work in the hands of others. I love writing. I don’t want it to seem like such a chore. Anyone else feel this way? What has worked for you? After all, what works for some might not work for others…hence, the reason I do this blog…helping others with ways that can better their writing, and helping to promote their books.

It’s hard being an indie writer when you are new to the game.

Also, those of you who use a Lit. Agent? Is it pretty cost efficient?
